Why is Charleston, SC Wedding Photography so expensive?

Charleston, SC pushes almost 5000 weddings a year! That's a ton for our mild population of around 120,000. That's just a number for Charleston CITY.

Here are a few pointers about Professional Wedding Photography in Charleston, SC.

 1. We are perfectionists in photography.

2. DJs hire out different photogs OR someone related to them or someone with very little experience.

3. Please view the photograph I included (djphotographer). This is a REAL photo of a DJ who offers an independent photographer. Sweethearts............her flash is no big enough to light a small mobile home bedroom. Sorry, but that's reality. Her postage stamp diffuser is a joke. Her ON CAMERA flash will cause REDEYE and will the person incharge of these images edit them to rid the red eye? Even if they do remove the REDEYE, it is taking pixels and disturbing them and readjusting their natural quality. It is removing pixels from your photographs reducing the quality. Shame.

4. I am a MASTER at eiditing. (15 years)

5. I have photographed over 2500 weddings since 1983.

6. My lighting is used in Hollywood and used by the finest photographers in the WORLD. I swear. MOST shots, you will not even see a shadow. It is more expensive than most wanna-be photographers.

7. These tiny "wink lights" the unprofessionals use cause deep dark black shadows on the wall, for example if your cake is set up by a wall and they photograph the cake cutting you will see a totally BLACK shadow beside your bodies. You will see an O.K. bride and groom shot dancing, but the outter area will be BLACK. No view of your guest watching/crying! These "wind-lights" just don't have the power to hit anything but what's in front.

8. Realize you have been on John & Lizz slideshow (I saw this thru our tracker). Take a look again at the second image where the girls are gathered waiting to go in the church. NO SHADOW. 99% of this gorgeous wedding has NO SHADOWS. Now sure, you will see some sometimes, but they are not bad. I see shadows as a distraction. The alter after-shots of groups have NO SHADOWS. It just looks like mother-nature was there lighting these groups. That is PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRPHY!

9. We understand you are comparing another DJ who offers both for $2000. I found a DJ for $550 4 hours + $100 per hour overtime http://www.sundanceproductions.net At that rate, you are below $2000 budget by $155. You could hire him for an extra hour-maybe longer!! The thing that got me was that no one wants to give up their prices. They want you to contact them like no one else can be competitive with their pricing. Drives me crazy.

10. QUOTE: I will do One Photographer, 4 hrs., limited photographs, print pkg. (as states online), Photo DVD, online gallery for just $1000. That's an offer I will we will offer to you until Friday.

11. Doug and I are real...........and REAL good!! I will not lie to you. I am full of myself! I know this, but there are things you just have no idea about..........like nasty shadows, editing and degrading the quality of your images. For just $1395 (cut from $1995) your package will be so loaded, you'll need a truck!! It is UNLIMITED TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12. (Keep in mind that for $395 more, we will do two photogs, + I will include ULTIMATE EDITING......$695 for free......I LOVE LOADED!! Pkg.) $1395. You will still be $55 UNDER $2000 and semi-quality photography!!!!

 13. Doug told me you had a question of why is photography so expensive......OK, this is as good as I can answer: If you go to that high profile beauty salon or that elite clothing store and you hate the high price, but you know that if you invest you will be getting premium quality. You should know that they have many years of experience and offer the highest of quality. That is a quality of assurance we will know what to do if something goes crazy on the day! We have books we could write about our experiences!!!(Like Folly Beach when a lady ran into an electrical transformer w/ her car and the ENTIRE HOLIDAY INN went BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!

You will become a part of our lives; not just a job. That is the way we work with our clients.

Anything we can do, don't hesitate to call. We take calls 'til 11::00pm nightly.

Unique Charleston Wedding Invitations

Hello all-
Unique is the style most brides and grooms want for their wedding day.

Why not start with your invitations?  Uncle Sam will mail most anything with an address on it!  It does not have to be a stamped envelope.

Recently, one of our brides had a beach theme wedding. Her idea was the MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE since her groom had proposed to her this way.  He had planted the message in a bottle he planted in the sand on the beach!  She was able to find light weight plastic  6” bottles she bought affordably by the case and computer printed her invitation notes and inserted them inside the bottles along with two miniature seashells. She applied sticky address labels to the bottles and sent them out just as if they were wedding invitation envelopes. It was adorable! She sent us one as well.

Perhaps a Cinderella theme is being planned. Create your own magic wands with the wand being a tube that holds the invitation.

Planning a wedding near Easter could be unique as well. Send your invitations out in large Plastic Easter Eggs.

Heart shaped tin containers run as low as 50 cents each and are usually used as wedding favors filled with mints. Wouldn’t it be cute to receive your wedding invitation in a heart shaped tin box?

Instead of sending out save the date cards; how about sending out photo invitations!  After we do your engagement portraits (which are included FREE in our $1395 pkg.), choose one of your portraits for the photograph. We will be happy to design these invitations for you.  A 5” x 7” sized print would be a great size and can be done in your own custom wedding colors!  Address and return labels applied to the back and they’re ready to go.

Ideas for invitations are unlimited. If you have other suggestions, we’d love to hear from you. Your memories are our profession!

Sincerely,

Wedding Photographer for 25+ yrs. and loving every memory of it!

Charleston, SC Holiday Weddings

We have always, for 27 yrs. now been involved with holiday weddings. One year we both were sitting there during the service and quietly whispered to each other, "Why would she have a wedding so close to Christmas?"
Well, that answer was given to us that day by the bride and boy, it made complete sense!  She explained that all of her family were ALWAYS together for the holidays, so why not have their wedding at that time to just make it easier on everyone.  That made complete sense.
If you normally have a Christmas party, just have your wedding instead!
New Year's Eve is also a fantastic time to celebrate your wedding. Our weather is usually chilly, but not unbearable, but you might want to consider an indoor wedding anyway.

Here are a few pics from a new year's wedding. It was chilly, but the bride still wanted to have portraits done in daylight hours. The ceremony was inside the beach house.

Charleston Wedding Photographers

With all of the choices in styles and prices, choosing the right Charleston photographer can be a bit detailed. You read so much and probably look at a million photos before you finally decide you like a particular photographer. Then, when you get to their prices, it pretty much cancels them out.
Your weddings budget is something you must live by to prevent you from spending too much.
Photography seems to be easy now with all of the new affordable digital cameras, but great photography is an art. We are college graduates in photography and have devoted our lives to the art of beautiful portraiture. We have been able to keep our prices competive and truly affordable. We do the same great work no matter how large or small your wedding might be.  We do know you will LOVE our prices!!

Greenville, SC Wedding

We have always loved traveling, even if it was just to Myrtle Beach. We were chosen to be a part of Thaddeus and Sonja's beautiful wedding day. Both wedding and reception were held at www.zengreenville.com  which is a 12,000 sw. foot venue. Before the wedding, we went to the center of town to Falls Park and did some fun photos with the groomsmen.  What a great day!

Charleston Wedding Planning 2012

It happens every year. Thanksgiving rolls in and before you know it, Christmas is upon us. Many lucky people get engaged at Christmas which is wonderful!  But, uh oh.........crazy wedding planning starts to drive you crazy. Where do you start? Who do you call first?
Charleston is incredible and you must decide what type of wedding you are going to plan. With that being said, GET YOUR LOCATION FIRST!! That is the most important of all things.
You can fill in the other things once you have a location.
Second: HIRE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHERS and CATERERS.

Once those 3 things are done, go for the fun stuff......trying on dresses, deciding colors and styles. It will come easy. We always stress hiring your photographer very early simply because we can only do so many weddings in a day. Usually only one!  We are sure price is important and we do run some very nicely price packages..............so BOOK US EARLY!!
Good luck.

Fall weddings by Charleston Wedding Photographers

The only season that rivals the beauty of Charleston, SC beach weddings are Fall weddings.  The photographs, whether they be bridal portraits or engagement photo sessions, really POP off the page with the colors of the changing seasons.  Charleston’s many beautiful wedding locations lend themselves to making awesome photographs.

CharlestonWeddingPhotographers.com always uses what is available to create beautiful memories thru our unique posing strategies.  Any and all locations the bride-to-be chooses for portraits will allow us to use creativity in combining the beauty of the background and the bride-to-be.  Of course, the engagement shoot will have the same high attention to detail showing the couples personalities as well.  This is why you hired professional photography and www.CharlestonWeddingPhotographers.com.  Being college trained, and perhaps more importantly, our 20+ years of experience, this creativity almost becomes second nature.  Lots of our photographs appear on Google and Yahoo images among other search engines
As is the norm with CharlestonWeddingPhotographers.com , we strive to keep our pricing as affordable as possible and even customize to fit individual needs. Naturally, which is not the norm for a majority of wedding photographers “cheap” packages, we always maintain our high standards of quality regardless of the agreed upon price. Very often we are able to stay as close as possible to the bride’s budget while providing the photography package she dreamed of. We like to call this “Gentle” pricing.

CharlestonWeddingPhotographers.com love what we do.  Give us a call or email and see what we can do for you.

October weddings in Charleston, SC

October is such a beautiful month in Charleston, SC. Anyone who lives here knows that the humidity is almost enough to put you down; especially if you are from up North. September rolls in and is only a tiny bit cooler than the long hot summers here, but once October is here, the humidity almost goes away completely. Outdoor weddings are almost never rained out and the other advantage-maybe the biggest one is that the mosquito population is cut way down. We joke and call the mosquitos our State Bird!
They are bothersome for outdoor weddings.
There are very many weddings in October, so our best advice to you if you would like an October wedding, is to plan EARLY.
